Our Beginnings

Our BeginningS

Eight years after meeting on a street corner in Downtown Phoenix, we’ve combined our love of food, family, and the Earth to create Beal Beans Roasting Company.

In between, we’ve collaborated on various projects surrounding food and community in Phoenix while raising our three sons. From Horny Toad Farms, a pesticide free family farm, to Community Cuisine, a local meal service with weekly pay-as-you-can cafe, making quality food accessible has always been the heart of the work.

With locality, quality, and sustainability in mind, Beal Beans sources only the highest grade coffee from family and co-op owned farms. Mostly organic, rainforest certified, and preferring natural processes in drought stricken areas, our company seeks the most meticulously and sustainably grown beans possible. Whether it's the more classic chocolate and nut profile from Central and South American beans to the brighter and earthier notes of the beans from Africa and the South Pacific, we invite you to enjoy the diversity of our world in every cup.

The Beals

This is us!
The faces behind the beans. In the Phoenix desert. This is our happy place, the space where we put our roots down in our little home in uptown Phoenix. We have been dreaming of this business since the beginning of our time together.

It’s been in front of our faces the whole time. From our first apartment on 3rd ave and Roosevelt where Blake would fill the entire building with the smell of Lola beans as he ground them in the hallway to keep from waking me up. That smell still takes me back.

Coffee is a love story and it’s meant to be shared.

From Peet’s in Berkeley where Blake grew up visiting with his father to Cartel in Tempe where we travelled by train and foot for our favorite pour over, each of these coffee roasters have a place in our hearts.
With our coffee we hope to share our story and ultimately become part of yours.
Thanks for supporting our dream.
We love you.
